South Rushden J.F.C.

Now where do i start..Well firstly the people who have been here from the start may not remember but I scored the FIRST EVER goal for South Rushden which we played over at Whitefriars Junior School, Anyway...this club started up as soon as my other one Rushden Rangers folded, our home ground was South End Junior School where we made it our own patch with the type of football we were playing.

During a few seasons we were their we didnt really achieve anything magnificent until we were in the cup semi-final over at weekley glebe against Rothwell Aztec when we were under 12's. Us being a division 2 team and up against a division 1 side we knew this was always going to be hard and of course we were underdogs. During the first half we took the lead and we were all amazed that we were because we were heavily underdogs. Then we went in 1-0 at the break then suddenly in the second half Aztec stunned us all with a goal late on with some heavy pressure. So the game went to extra time, no-one could score so then yep.. you guessed it PENALTIES. We had nothing to lose..so me being the penalty taker anyway i decided to have the 3rd one unfortunately we didnt score the first 2 so it came to me to revive our hopes and i did so with a perfect placed bottom corner penalty. Our keeper kept us in it for most of it but then they needed to score to win and they did, so all of us were gutted but we all believed that we would be back for another shot one day.

During Under 13's i was given the captaincy as they said i deserved it through all my effort, we all started to gel as a team and play passing football, within this season i bagged over 20 goals which is an outstanding achievement with also the highest record for goals in a match, which i successfully scored 6 against Thrapston Town.

This has to be the best season of my life so far..Under 14's i achieved everything i wanted to getting in a Cup Final..with the season before got nothing to show this is by far the best for a club only being 3 years old at the time. We started the season off with win after win, after win until we played joint top with them coming to our place and getting a undeserved 1-0 win so it put us back into second and ever since we retained that spot so we ended up Runners Up in the league by only 2 points. This was the year of the county cup we got knocked out in the first round by Gregory Celtic as they were up for it more than we were. We were also in the league cup with our results being..

Round 1.. South Rushden 2 - 1 Higham Town Colts

Round 2..  Stanwick Rovers 1 - 3 South Rushden

Round 3.. South Rushden 0 - 0 Thrapston Town Juniors [Home Win on Penalties]

Then it came to the semi-final again (Like i said we all believed we would have another chance) we were now playin Oakley Lodge and with me being the captain my job was to psyche everybody up and just win! so before the game we had our team huddle and their were some big words being said. So the game started tense but good football being played, we took the lead in the first 20 mins. So when we scored i was telling everybody do not chuck this chance away like we did last time. It came to the last 2 minutes where it was still 1-0, there was a cornfield next to the pitch so i just said 'just boot it in there' and we did and then the final whistle blew and there we were CUP FINALISTS! we had gone one better than the under 12 season.

There isnt any words that could tell you how i felt when i led my team out of the tunnel because of all the support we had it sent shivers down my back. We unfortunately lost the game 3-2 but coming back from 2-0 down at half time, we have to be given some credit and from both goals i claimed both assists so a good performance all round by all the players and our fans! The thing we didnt all realise is that we played DIVISION 1 clubs all through the cup, so that just shows how good football we played. I am just happy to have captained South Rushden's proudest moment so far.
